How to Keep Your Warranty

To maintain your warranty, your door must be properly finished, installed, and maintained.

Finish Your Door

Before installation, every surface—including both faces, all four edges, and any exposed wood—must be completely sealed.

Finish your door using:

  • One (1) coat of exterior-grade primer or stain.

  • Two (2) coats of high-quality exterior-grade paint, marine varnish, or sealer, applied according to the manufacturer's instructions.

All finishing must be completed within two (2) weeks of the shipment date.

For complete instructions, see our How to Paint Your Door and How to Stain & Finish Your Door guides. [DEV NOTE: Remove this line for now until this content is added to the site]

Install Your Door

Your door must be installed in a workmanlike manner within two (2) weeks of the shipment date.

Whenever possible, position your door to avoid excessive, prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or moisture.

Maintain the Finish

Inspect your door's finish periodically after installation.

If the finish becomes weathered, worn, or begins to deteriorate, refinish the affected areas promptly using the same finishing requirements above.

Proper maintenance is an ongoing requirement of this warranty.

Important Exceptions

This warranty does not cover:

  • Glass, decorative elements, hardware, or applied architectural details attached to the door.

  • Shipping, transportation, labor, painting, finishing, installation, or removal costs.

  • Commercial applications. Vintage Doors are intended for residential use only. Commercial use voids this warranty.

  • Natural variations in wood color, grain, or character.

  • Damage resulting from improper finishing, improper installation, misuse, accidents, improper storage, failure to maintain the finish, or other abnormal use.

In addition:

  • Doors finished with dark, heat-absorbing exterior colors (including black, dark blue, dark brown, and dark red) are not covered. These finishes can absorb excessive heat and contribute to cracking, warping, and premature deterioration.
  • Exterior doors with applied moldings must be silicone sealed around the molding edges after finishing to prevent water intrusion. Damage resulting from failure to do so is not covered.

Installation

Vintage Doors does not install doors and cannot warranty installation work performed by others.

Damage caused by improper installation—including stress, movement, or cracking—is not covered under this warranty.

If a Manufacturing Defect Is Confirmed

If a covered defect in materials or workmanship is confirmed during the warranty period, Vintage Doors may, at its sole discretion:

  • Repair the door
  • Replace or exchange the door
  • Refund the original purchase price

Any repaired or replacement door will remain covered for the remainder of the original warranty period.

Please note that finishing, shipping, transportation, labor, and installation costs remain the responsibility of the owner.
