Common questions and clear answers—straight from the workshop
Our doors aren’t mass-produced. They’re built one at a time, by hand, from solid hardwood — no veneers, hollow cores, or filler materials. Every door is custom-sized to fit your opening and designed to match your home’s style, era, and architecture.
You’re not just paying for a door. You’re choosing in something that will last for decades, fit right the first time, and add real value to your home.
With the right care, our doors can last 20–30 years or more. Most off-the-shelf options are built for shorter-term use — and many of our customers come to us after learning that the hard way.
Most custom door orders ship within 6–10 weeks, depending on complexity and season. Every door is built to order. Need something sooner? Reach out — we’ll see what’s possible.
We ship nationwide from our workshop in New York. Small items ship via FedEx Ground; most doors ship curbside via insured freight. You’ll be contacted to schedule delivery, and we’ll guide you through what to expect. Lift gate service is available if needed, and we can arrange alternate delivery options for tight or rural locations.
We ship all doors unfinished so you can choose the paint or stain that best fits your space. While we don’t offer installation, our doors are easy to work with and arrive sanded and prepped. Many customers use a contractor, but experienced DIYers often install them too.
That depends on your exposure and style. We’re happy to recommend finishes based on your climate and design goals — whether you need UV protection for a sun-exposed entry or want a stain that matches original trim. Just ask — we’re here to help.
That’s exactly what we’re here for. From sloping porches to century-old openings, we build to fit — not force it. Our doors are designed to meet your home where it is, with precision and care.
Don’t worry — you don’t have to have it all figured out. Just send us a photo and rough measurements, and we’ll walk you through the next steps. Whether you’re restoring an old farmhouse or updating your kitchen, we’ll help you get it right.
