The company—and the people—behind the custom doors

Where Craftsmanship Comes Home

Vintage Doors is an independent door-making workshop in New York, handcrafting solid wood doors for homes across the country. Since 1990, each door has been built from kiln-dried hardwood held together with time-tested joinery for lasting strength and beauty.

We shape, fit, and sand every piece by hand, not because it’s faster but because it’s right. We take careful measurements, study the grain, and make sure every fit feels right before we call it done. Our work has always been guided by one belief: a door should feel like it’s always been there and always will be.

We partner with homeowners, builders, designers, and preservationists who care about getting it right, whether restoring a historic property, updating a coastal cottage, or designing something new with timeless character. Our specialties include screen & storm, entry, and interior doors, each built to fit your home’s architecture and made to your exact size, style, and specifications.

Every door that leaves our workshop carries our name and our promise that it was built to belong.

Still Made to Order

Every door we build is made for one home—yours.

From the way it swings open to the pattern of the glass and the grain of the wood, every element is shaped to fit your home’s architecture and character. You choose the details — wood species, glass style, and layout — and we craft each piece to your exact measurements for a precise, seamless fit.

Because our doors are truly made to order, each one feels intentional. They’re built not just to fill a space, but to belong to it.

Doors
Still Built the Traditional Way

Every door begins as kiln-dried hardwood, hand-selected for grain and stability. Each stile and rail is cut to proportion and held together with traditional joinery for lasting strength.

We still rely on the eye and hand of a craftsperson to assemble, fit, and sand each piece before shipping. Every joint, every edge, every pane of glass is shaped with care. You can feel that precision in the way a door closes cleanly, fits square, and stays that way for decades.

Still Rooted in New York

Every door we build is crafted in our New York workshop, in the same town where Vintage Doors began in 1990 Here, craftsmanship isn’t a slogan; it’s a daily practice. The scent of sawdust, the hum of the planer, and the steady hands at the bench are all part of the craft that keeps us true to our roots.

We’re proud to remain an independent American workshop, large enough to serve homes nationwide yet small enough to care about every detail.
